A pop-up warning that you need to call Microsoft support at 800-656-2051 to unlock your PC? Is 800-656-2051 a genuine Microsoft phone number? What do you know about this 800-656-2051 pop-up? Let's see how nasty this pop-up is according to two victims:
Victim 1:
"Lately I have 2 new pop ups that are frustratingly hard to get rid of. I have pop up blocker on, Win 7 and IE 11 and still get them."
PC Keeper just pops up while I'm searching on the web and just makes me close the pop up. But I can close it and continue.
The second one is much more aggravating. It is "ProblemDetect.com", tied to phone 800 656 2051.
I comes up, warns me to call Microsoft support at the above number and locks up the display. I cant just hit the red X and close it. I wind up either unplugging the computer or doing "CTRL ALT DELETE several times until I can get to the shutdown screen. Then I reboot.
Victim 2:
"Microsoft Edge popup bogus virus alert dial 800-656-2051
On my first opening of Edge after Windows 10 replaced my 8.1, this popup immediately hijacked my screen. Only way to get it off is to close window in Task Manager. It happens every time I try to open Edge. I can use Firefox just fine and ran SpyBot and an AVG virus tracker with no success."
Depending on the statements of these two victims, the 800-656-2051 pop-up is diagnosed as a scam. Hence, 800-656-2051 is not a genuine Microsoft phone number. Please keep in mind that Microsoft alert won't provide any phone number to call. When you see random pop-ups like ProblemDetect.com asking you to call 800-656-2051 for help, it only means that your PC is at risk, and the 800-656-2051 pop-up is the threat itself.
