What Is TorrentLocker?

TorrentLocker is classified as a ransomware which is designed by cyber criminals for date kidnapping, attempting to extort money from victims via locking affected computers or encrypting the files stored on hard drive or network disks. This ransomware often gets into computers through downloading free applications from the third parties, visiting intrusive websites or clicking malicious links without asking for any permission.

While your computer is infected by this ransomware, it is able to store itself in the Temp folder as a random named executable. Then it will create a hidden random named job in Task Scheduler that launches the malware executable every time you login. Thus it is able to scan your computer secretly, and then lock your commonly used programs and encrypt your important data so that you can no longer access them or open them. Besides, this ransomware will rename your data so that they end with a TorrentLocker extension. In fact, these TorrentLocker files are simply your normal files that have been encrypted. Then a pop-up screen will show up stating your programs and data have been encrypted and you have to follow the instructions on the screen to pay the ransom for your files back.

Once you pay the requested ransom, the criminals may send you a code that you can input into the ransomware program that will then allow you to use your computer or decrypt your data. In some situations, even though you do pay the ransom, the cyber criminals just take your money and run, with you being left with your problem unresolved. Therefore, if you ever run into a ransomware, please do not send the payment, and instead you should search your situation through Google, as the answer will most likely be published or at least being worked on.

How to Uninstall TorrentLocker?

A. Manual Removal:

Step 1: Remove any executable from the Temp folder.

1) Click Start > Computer.

2) Type "Temp" in the right upper corner to search Temp folder in your computer.

3) Find out all the executable from the Temp folder and delete them.

Step 2: Clean its hidden jobs in the windows Task Scheduler.

1) Click on Start and type in "Task Scheduler" to search it.

2) After the Task Scheduler window shown, find out and clean its hidden jobs. 

Step 3: Restart your computer. 

Warm Reminded: Firstly, The removal method removes the main infection, but will not restore your encrypted files. Secondly, before you begin with the manual removal operation, please backup your system files in case of any inevitable mistakes would make.

B. Automatic Removal:

Step 1: Download and execute SpyHunter-Installer.exe to install SpyHunter.

Step 2: After the installation, open SpyHunter and click on Scan Computer Now! button to run a full scan on your computer.

Step 3: When the scan is done, click Fix Threats button to remove TorrentLocker.
